Twenty teams. Seven divisions. One statewide ranking. Lions FC take over at No.1 in The Low Block’s latest Queensland men’s pyramid Power Rankings.
SEPTEMBER UPDATE
The latest Power Rankings bring a change at No.1. Lions FC move above Brisbane Strikers after another strong run at the top end of the Queensland men’s pyramid.
Newmarket hold third, Broadbeach United climb into fourth and New Farm United round out the top five. Further down, SWQ Thunder are the biggest mover from the previous published top 15, jumping seven places into seventh.
The rankings are not a ladder. They are designed to compare teams playing at different levels by combining season performance, recent form, opposition strength and league level into one comparative score.
THE TOP FIVE
Five clubs from four different divisions make up the current top five.
THE OUTLIER ATTACK
Fifth overall, but first in one category by a huge margin. New Farm United finished their FQPL 4 Metro league campaign with 107 goals in 22 matches, an average of 4.86 per game.

THE CHASING PACK
The list stretches from the top of the NPL to teams deeper in the pyramid. That is the point of the Power Rankings: a lower-division side dominating its competition can still push into the statewide conversation, while league level keeps stronger competitions properly weighted.
Newmarket sit third after a 58-point league season with 94 goals. Pine Rivers are ninth after winning 58 points in FQPL 5, while Holland Park’s 50-point FQPL 6 campaign places them 11th.
HOW IT WORKS
Wins, draws, losses and overall points rate form the base of the ranking.
Recent performances matter more than results from months earlier.
Results are judged in context rather than treating every opponent as equal.
NPL and higher FQPL levels carry stronger baseline weighting than lower tiers.
The score is a comparative index designed to rank clubs across different competitions. Finals results already played are included in the team’s form and result profile. Rankings are based on the 2026 Queensland men’s pyramid data available to The Low Block as of 10 September 2026.
THE LOW BLOCK
Lions FC lead the September rankings, but the margins remain tight. With Strikers, Newmarket, Broadbeach and New Farm all within seven points of the top, the final matches of 2026 still have the potential to reshape the order.
